(Below) Notice that the old fountain is still there in this photo from 2000.  I don't remember when they removed it, but at some point in about 2006, I suddenly realized it was gone when I saw one of my old videos from 1990 showing it....

I'm not sure why the fountain was removed (and others like it... I think there was one in Shibuya in front of the Hachiko dog statue before as well...), but I suppose it had something to do with pigeons?  Or maybe it was just a way to cut maintenance costs?
